What we collect

We collect only what a session needs:

Your name and email

To create your account, sign you in with an emailed link, and send the notifications you choose.

Your profile

What you add yourself: languages, a short bio, your goal, a general location, and an optional photo. You decide what to include.

LinkedIn account confirmation (volunteers)

We store only the confirmed account reference. We never receive or store your LinkedIn password or token.

Bookings, ratings, and reviews

The sessions you request or give, and the feedback you leave, so the service works and stays accountable.

Video session records

The live call runs on Amazon Chime. We record who joined and for how long, to confirm a session took place. The platform does not record the audio or video of your call.

Sign-in and security records

Each active sign-in stores your device type, IP address, and last-active time, so you can review and end your sessions.

An email a meeting guest chooses to leave

If you join a TEEI meeting as a guest, you may leave your email to be told when the meeting moves or is cancelled. It is used for nothing else, and you need no account.

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make TEEI Language work, each bound to protect it and use it only on our instructions. The complete list and safeguards are in our full privacy policy.

Organisation partner links

If you arrive through an organisation's partner link, TEEI may show that organisation privacy-floored aggregate outcomes. We show your name, programme, signup, booking or session milestone, and completed-session count only if you choose this. You can hide it again at any time in Settings.

How long we keep it

We keep data only as long as it is useful for the service:

Sign-in links

60 minutes, then they expire.

Signed-in sessions

30 days, or until you sign out. Up to 10 active sessions at once; signing in beyond that ends the session that has gone unused the longest.

Your account and profile

Until you delete your account.

A meeting guest's email

Until a day after the meeting, or until you press Stop these emails in one of them.

Your rights

You are in control of your data. Most of it is yours to change directly, in Settings.

Your profile and account details are editable at any time.

Change your email

A verified email change keeps your account yours.

Choose what we send you

Turn each type of notification on or off.

Delete your account

Remove your TEEI Language account, or your full TEEI account, whenever you want. It cannot be undone.

Withdrawing consent or asking us to stop does not affect anything we did beforehand, and you will never be penalised for exercising a right.

We use essential storage to sign you in and remember your choices. Google measurement storage is enabled only if you accept it.

Your choice is stored in this browser. Google receives full measurement signals only if you accept.

Product analytics

We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how TEEI Language is used. This tells us which parts of the service are helpful and where people get stuck. We do not use it for advertising, and we never sell your data.

This runs on every page, including before you sign in, and it is separate from the advertising choice you were offered: accepting or declining that one does not turn this off. PostHog sets one cookie of its own so it can recognise the same browser from page to page. If you would rather it did not, turn on "Do Not Track" in your browser, which we honour, or ask us and we will stop.

What it collects

Usage events (such as opening a page or starting a booking), the pages you visit, and your device and browser type. Not your IP address: it is switched off at the source, so no location is derived from it. We keep this to what we need to understand and improve the service.

How to object or opt out

You can ask us to stop at any time by contacting us, and we honour your browser’s "Do Not Track" setting. Our full privacy policy explains how to make a request.

Google Ads conversion measurement

The Google Ads tag always loads with consent denied. If you accept, Google may use cookies and related signals to measure how people find TEEI Language. If you decline, consent stays denied and Google receives only cookieless Consent Mode pings.

Who can use TEEI Language

TEEI Language is a service for adults. You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account and take part.

Live captions

You can turn on live captions during a video session. Captions are always off by default: turning them on needs your permission and the other person’s permission, every time. Captions are not saved and disappear when the call ends. Only the person who booked the session can choose Save transcript. If they do, the transcript is stored on that account and is deleted when the account is deleted.

Finding your level with AI

If you choose to find your level, you answer six short questions in writing. An AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic) reads your answers through Amazon Web Services in the EU and estimates your level, from A1 to C1, with the sentences of yours it based that on. A filter checks your answers first and stops the reading if an answer looks like an instruction to the AI.

We keep the questions, your answers and the estimate with your account. We use them to set the level your practice companion writes to you at, to choose what your next practice focuses on, to place you in group practice at your level, and to show you what changed if you find your level again. It is an estimate from one conversation, not a certificate.

No person reads your answers to rate them. TEEI staff see only counts, for example how many readings were made. You can download your readings with the rest of your data, and they are deleted when your account is deleted.
